Polishing smooths the rough tooth surfaces left after tartar and plaque removal and reduces new tartar deposits. It is done at the same or the next visit after cleaning — with rubber cups and paste, or with Air-Flow.

Why are teeth polished after tartar removal?

After tartar and plaque are removed, a rough tooth surface remains. It is extremely important to polish the surfaces to which the tartar was attached, at the same or the next visit to the clinic. A rough surface leads to much faster plaque build-up and tartar formation. Polishing finely smooths the tooth surfaces and reduces tartar deposits.

How are teeth polished?

Polishing can be done in two ways — with suitable rubber cups, brushes and abrasive pastes, or with polishing soda and Air-Flow.

Polishing with abrasive paste

Rubber cups and brushes of different hardness, size and shape are fitted to the handpiece. The tooth surfaces, previously coated with polishing paste, are polished with rotating movements.

Polishing with Air-Flow

Polishing teeth with the Air-Flow device

Polishing with Air-Flow works on the principle of sandblasting. Air-Flow is a dental device that uses medical soda and water under pressure to create a jet. It is directed at an angle of 45 degrees to the tooth and cleans and polishes the tooth surfaces.

The Patient gets a beautiful, shining smile. With good oral hygiene and regular preventive check-ups, the effect is long-lasting and the teeth stay healthy and clean.

How much does it cost?

Polishing of all teeth: 50 €. All prices are in the Price list.
